[Market Puppets]

This show, an Alma d’Arame production, was developed during an artistic residency in Montemor-o-Novo, between the Alma d’Arame rehearsal space and the Municipal Market, and premiered on February 12, 2022 at the Montemor-o-Novo Municipal Market.

Its conception was based on an initial phase of research into the history of markets and all their characteristics and workings. Taking the Montemor-o-Novo Market as a reference and inspiration, getting to know its vendors and their stories, which could even be included in the play.

SYNOPSIS

Bonecos do Mercado is a multidisciplinary show inspired by the traditional traveling puppet theaters that toured markets, fairs and fairs, and the whole universe of characters and objects that inhabited them.

Three performers – puppeteers, musicians and dancers – move around the market space in a constant game with the audience, between the characters of sellers or buyers, sharing their vision of human history in various acts.
